Galaxy express 999 (Leiji Matsumoto)

After our presentation of some classical manga as Princess Saphir or Black Jack by Tezuka, we will present another monster of the manga’s world, Galaxy Express 999 by Leiji Matsumoto

In fact, who forgot about Albator or Galaxy express ? For a little review of the story, a young boy, Tetsurô Hoshino, wants to pursue the murderer of his mother. For this purpose, he wants to get a robot body on a planet that give to anybody robot body for free. But, to go to this planet, our young hero will need to use a special train : the Galaxy Express. Since he can’t afford the price of the ticket, he will succeed to use the train, because of a mysterious woman, Maetel, who will be like his "spiritual master", and "bodyguard" during the trip. This travel will show to Tetsuro the meaning of his life and the path to follow. Indeed, every station mean a little adventure and story about the advantage and the fondamental questions about robots.

About the universe of Galaxy express, it’s interesting for the one who like japanese book that this world looks like the book of Kenji Mizawa "The Night of the Milky Way Train".

The graphic style is quite old but the simple and classical way of drawing is effective. Like the other "old title", Galaxy express try to ask some essential question about the meaning of the human being, and the risk with technology. Pepole who like action will certainly find this title a little boring.
